Aurora Singers is a community show choir organization committed to artistic excellence, musical growth, and a welcoming environment for singers of all backgrounds. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Artistic Director to lead our ensemble into an exciting new chapter.

​Salary Range $9,800 - $11,600

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Artistic Director provides the musical leadership and creative vision for Aurora Singers. This is a paid part-time position. The ideal candidate is a skilled conductor who can build rapport with volunteer singers, select compelling repertoire, and guide the ensemble toward consistent artistic growth. Piano proficiency is required. Choreography skills are a valued plus but not required, we are open to candidates who bring strong conducting ability and are willing to collaborate on movement if needed.

Responsilibities

— Plan and conduct all rehearsals and performances throughout the concert year

      — Every Tuesday from Early August til December show, Early January til May show

      — First weekend of October, December, March and May. Saturdays from 6-10 ish, Sundays from 1-6 ish

      — Tech week is the week prior to each show, Monday, Tuesday, Friday from 6-10 ish.

— Select and prepare repertoire appropriate to the ensemble's level and artistic goals


— Provide musical instruction that develops singers' skills and builds ensemble cohesion


— Collaborate with the board on programming, scheduling, and organizational planning


— Represent Aurora Singers with professionalism at performances and community events


— Participate in a shadowing period with the outgoing director to ensure a smooth transition


— Attend required board and planning meetings

Qualifications

Required

· Choral conducting experience
· Proficiency in piano
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work with volunteer singers of varying experience levels
· Passion for community choral music

Preferred

· Choreography experience or willingness to collaborate on movement
· Experience leading community or non-professional ensembles
· Familiarity with a range of choral styles and repertoire
· Background in music education or
performance
